Specifications

Specs are important because they outline a variety of requirements and qualifications that coatings must have. Specs may also contain information to assist in designing a particular product coating. In addition, specs may list the required testing for the product and performance requirements.

There are different types of specs, the most common are MIL-specs and Industry Specs. A MIL spec is a military or governmental spec that may work for all branches of government. Many industry specs are developed from these MIL specs, and may be very close in composition with only slight differences. For example, Everlube Products references both MIL and ASTM specs which are sometimes quite different to allow different industries and our customers to have a common source for different types of testing methods and procedures.
